1000 Businesses in Accra Are Coming Online During Social Media Week! #SMWiAccra

The internet and social media have turned the world into one big stage, and anyone who embraces this shift quickly is set for success. Businesses are no exception—getting online fast can skyrocket their fortunes by opening up a market far beyond their physical reach.

That’s exactly what Social Media Week aims to do from September 11th to 15th, 2017. Volunteers will flood local markets, helping businesses set up an online presence.

Thanks to partnerships with Facebook and Google Skills for Africa, a directory will be created to make it easier to find popular spots in Ghana, like Kantamanto.

Imagine a directory that shows you where all the jeans vendors in Kantamanto are located, or where you can find every wedding décor seller at Rawlings Park!

It’s a win-win: Consumers enjoy convenience, while vendors get a boost in sales.

SMWiAccra (Social Media Week Independent Accra) is calling on organizations, civil groups, and media houses to support this initiative. Whether through volunteering, publicity, or any other kind of assistance, they are looking for support from the community.

Now, think about the waakye seller in your area. She’s been serving up amazing food every Saturday morning since you were a kid! Well, here’s the deal: mention her on any of our social media handles, and we’ll track her down, bring her online, and help her expand her customer base! Simply tag her name and location on our handles: @SMWiAccra across all platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).

It’s that easy.

The world is moving fast, and with a little effort, we can not only catch up but even leap ahead.

Get 1000 Businesses Online is an initiative by Social Media Week Accra, supported by Facebook, Google Skills for Africa (Wineloya Digital), and powered by Vodafone.
